“Sweetwater” will hit Sundance Film Festival screens on January 24.

Aldean told ABC News Radio earlier this month he was planning to dabble in acting, but it turns out he’s already been in front of the camera for a new western, which will also star Ed Harris, January Jones, Jason Isaacs, Eduardo Noriega and Steven Root.

Sweetwater takes place in the late 1800s and is described as “an intense but humorous film” centering around a fanatical religious leader, a renegade Sheriff, and a former prostitute who collide in a blood triangle on the rugged plains of the New Mexico Territory.

It was shot in New Mexico.

Tonight in New York Billboard will honor the industry’s top artists, venues and professionals of the year at the annual Billboard Touring Awards reception.

Country is represented by three finalists:

  • Brothers of the Sun, featuring Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Grace Potter and Jake Owen
  • My Kinda Party, featuring Jason Aldean with Luke Bryan, Lauren Alaina
  • Speak Now, featuring Taylor Swift with Needtobreathe, Hunter Hayes, Danny Gokey

These awards are based primarily on the Billboard Boxscore chart, recognizing true box office success and industry achievement between October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012.

“I’ve never felt the kind of energy that the fans from the ATL brought this weekend,” said Aldean.  “I didn’t think it could get any wilder, and then when Luda came out, the place came totally unglued.  We’ve gotten to perform together several times, but man, he’s the Mayor of Atlanta, so this one was beyond cool.”

Aldean is currently celebrating his fifth consecutive #1 song with “Fly Over States” from CMA’s “Album of the Year” MY KINDA PARTY.

Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley are part of E!’s new music competition series Opening Act, premiering July 9.

Winners will open for Aldean, Paisley, Blige, Rod Stewart, LMFAO and Nicki Minaj.

Lady Antebellum gets a top duo/group nod and Taylor Swift also scores two nominations this week for the Billboard Music Awards, taking place in May from Las Vegas. The show, airing on ABC, will see LA and Taylor vie for Top Touring Act and also Top Country Artist with…
